No “We” in “I”
I am important. Without me, the world would not be how it is today. I am the most important human alive. You see, that is the problem. We claim that we are selfless and care more about others, but if it came down to it and we had to choose between living or dying we would choose living. We find it completely normal to use others sadness to make us feel better about ourselves. We would be lying if we said “No.” We wish to see people succeed, but, we would like to be considered the best of the best. We want to be someone; be known. If we really are so selfless, then why would we want to be better than anyone else?
This is done because we want to feel important. We are not mean, it is normal to do this. It could be because it what is expected in our society. We are expected to care, yet are expected to be the best. Our society influences us to have to step on others to get to where we need to get to. It might be that we feel empty inside and want to feel accomplished. But if we are so selfless, why would we want to be better than anyone else?

This does not only affect us, it affects everyone. If I stop caring about being so important, will it make other people feel the same way? Maybe if we start realizing that we really are not so important, we could help one another succeed. If we could be better than everyone else, then we would not move forward.
